Who can apply for Italian citizenship by descent?

You need to have an Italian parent or grandparent. REMEMBER: If your Italian ancestor is the great-grandparent of your parent/grandparent, you can apply together, and both of you will obtain Italian citizenship at the same time.

The ancestor must not have voluntarily renounced their Italian citizenship before the birth of their descendants. REMEMBER: the descendant reaching the age of majority is no longer valid.

There are no gender restrictions; both male and female ancestors are eligible to transmit Italian citizenship.

STEP 3

REGISTRATION PACK

Once your Italian citizenship application is fully approved, you can proceed with obtaining your Italian passport. Depending on where you reside, you can register either with AIRE (if you live abroad) or with your local civil registry (if you plan to live in Italy). If you decide to reside in Italy, you will also need to request your Italian ID card and a fiscal code. You can choose to handle this independently or receive our full support. With Step 3, all you need to do is authorize us to act on your behalf, we will take care of the AIRE/civil registration, your Italian passport, ID card and fiscal code will then be delivered directly to your home.
